Not just a view, the heritage behind it. Ella writes about the place, its hidden history, and the details that never make it into the guidebooks, all printed on the poster.

On the 30th of December 1952, bus driver Albert Gunter was halfway across when the bridge began to rise beneath him, the usual warning bell having failed to sound in time. He put his foot down instead of stopping, and jumped the gap, landing safely on the far bascule before it lifted too high to reach. All twenty passengers made it across. Gunter broke his leg and was given a reward for his nerve. The bridge itself still opens for river traffic to this day, just with rather more warning than he got.

An original illustration, available in colour or black and white, created for the Ella's Adventures travel poster series.

No frame included.
