Nearly Home Trees, Cookworthy Knapp

Some landmarks you visit. This one tells you the visiting is nearly done. On the crown of a hill just south of the A30, where Devon gives way to Cornwall, there is a stand of beech trees that generations of travellers have come to know as a signal: nearly home. The Nearly Home Trees at Cookworthy Knapp are not on any official map, but they are on the mental map of everyone who has ever made that particular journey west.
