Each poster comes with a letter home. Ella writes about the place and its hidden history, and the details that never makes it into the guidebooks.
Iquitos, the gateway city to the Peruvian Amazon, is the largest city in the world with no road connecting it to anywhere else. Nearly half a million people live there, completely surrounded by jungle and water, reachable only by boat or by plane. During the rubber boom of the nineteenth century the isolation didn't stop money pouring in, European fortunes built the city's Iron House, designed by Gustave Eiffel's workshop and shipped in from Europe piece by piece, still standing in a city no car has ever driven into.
This poster is an original illustration in watercolour and ink, painted exclusively for the Ella's Adventures travel poster series.
No frame included.
