Letters Home: Woolwich, London · 11th May · The Launch of HMS Beagle

Ella arrives at Woolwich Dockyard on the anniversary of the launch of HMS Beagle, and follows the story of the ship that carried a young Charles Darwin around the world. A modest survey ship built for £7,803 that would eventually change how we understand life on Earth. Darwin nearly did not get on board because the captain did not like the shape of his nose.
