Each poster comes with a letter home. Ella writes about the place, its hidden history, and the funny details that never makes it into the guidebooks.
It looks exactly like a Gothic church, pointed arches and all, and it always has, on purpose. When it opened in 1874, the architect built it that way deliberately, to draw attention to what was, underneath the stonework, simply a fish market. Locals have called it the Fish Church ever since. It's had a quieter drama going on beneath the surface too. By the last renovation, the whole building was slowly sliding towards the canal, and it took two hundred steel piles driven into the ground to stop it.
This poster is an original exclusive illustration in watercolour and ink, exclusively painted for the Ella's Adventures travel poster series.
