Criccieth Castle

Every picture tells a story, and this one belongs to Criccieth. The little town sits on the southern edge of the Llŷn Peninsula, where the green of the Welsh hills meets the wide shimmer of Cardigan Bay. Above it all, on its volcanic promontory, the castle watches the sea as it has done since Llywelyn the Great built it in the thirteenth century.

This poster is an original illustration in watercolour and ink, painted by Ella for the Ella's Adventures travel poster series. It comes with a letter home. Ella writes about Criccieth, the castle and the people who built it, and the kind of local detail that does not make it onto the information boards.
