The Colosseum, Rome · Travel Poster

Each poster comes with a letter home where Ella writes about Rome and its hidden history.

Two thousand years have passed since the first crowds filed beneath the Colosseum's arches, and still the stones hold the noise of it all. The amphitheatre rose in under a decade, built on a site chosen for reasons that say everything about the emperor who came before it. Eighty arches opened onto a tiered world where senators sat in marble seats and the poorest Romans craned from the uppermost rows. In the letter, Ella writes about what stood there before the Colosseum, and why tearing it down was the whole point.
