Step back to the spring of 80 AD, the year Emperor Titus opened the gates of Rome's great Flavian Amphitheatre with 100 days of games to mark the completion of the greatest arena the world had ever seen.
This A6 art postcard reimagines a postcard sent home from that moment: a unique watercolour and ink illustration, vintage postmarked 21st April 80 AD, the date Titus deliberately chose as it fell on the traditional birthday of Rome itself, capturing the Colosseum's four tiers of arches rising above the heart of the ancient city.
Part of the Postcards Home series; a growing collection of original illustrated postcards, each rooted in a real place and a real moment in history, with a classic postcard reverse printed in black, ready to write and send.
