Each poster comes with a letter home. Ella writes about the place, its hidden history, and the funny details that never makes it into the guidebooks.
Nobody built this to be a tourist attraction. By the late 1960s, Toronto's new skyscrapers had grown so tall they were bouncing television and radio signals all over the city, and reception was falling apart. The only fix was a broadcast antenna taller than everything else downtown, so in 1973 they started pouring concrete for exactly that. The glass floor, the observation deck, the whole idea of going up there for the view, all of that came later. It was a radio mast first, an icon by accident.
This poster is an original exclusive illustration in watercolour and ink, exclusively painted for the Ella's Adventures travel poster series.
