Each poster comes with a letter home. Ella writes about the place, its hidden history, and the funny details that never makes it into the guidebooks.

On the 26th of March 1812, Maundy Thursday, the cathedral was full of worshippers when an earthquake brought it down, part of a disaster that killed an estimated fifteen to twenty thousand people across the city. Venezuela was a year into its fight for independence at the time, and royalist authorities were quick to call the earthquake divine punishment for the rebellion. That July, the fragile new republic collapsed. A building meant to hold a congregation ended up holding a piece of political propaganda instead.

This poster is an original exclusive illustration in watercolour and ink, exclusively painted for the Ella's Adventures travel poster series.
