Budapest sits on the Danube like it has always known it deserved to be looked at. On one bank, the wooded hills of Buda rise to a castle that has watched over the river for seven centuries. On the other, the flat grid of Pest stretches out beneath a Parliament building so grand it remains one of the largest in the world. The two cities only became one in 1873,  along with Óbuda,  but they had been talking across the water for much longer than that.

Every poster comes with a letter from Ella, written from Budapest. She writes about the Chain Bridge, the thermal baths that survive from 150 years of Ottoman rule, still in use, still producing the same mineral water amongst other pieces of history.

The illustration is an original work in watercolour and ink, painted as part of the Ella's Adventures travel poster series.
